The legendary frontman of Nirvana may or may not have ended his own life, but on every February 20th, we can choose to remember all of the great things about the genius musician, Kurt Cobain.
On February 20, 1967, Kurt Cobain was born. No one knew then that he would live to be a music icon. No one knew then what grunge rock was or the importance Cobain would play in a changing culture or how he would inspire his generation. Kurt Cobain was Gen X; he was our version of a rock god.
1991 was the year of Nirvana, the year most of us were introduced to Kurt Cobain. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” hit the air and the video waves in 1991. The CD was called Nevermind. The phrase “Never mind” typified the Gen X attitude at the time. We related and we bought that CD and most of us still own it today. 10 million copies of Nevermind have been sold in the U.S. alone.
